About RH3OVA

RH3OVA is a newly established engineering services company supporting the development of advanced energy technologies, with a particular focus on tritium systems and fusion applications.

The company commercialises specialist engineering and consultancy services delivered through a robust industrial and research ecosystem, enabling clients to address complex technical, safety and regulatory challenges.

RH3OVA is a joint venture between UKAEA and Eni. It offers the combined IP and capabilities of each organisation but operates as an independent, client-focused delivery team.

UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) is the UK’s national organisation responsible for fusion energy research and development, working to advance the science and engineering needed to deliver commercial fusion power. It operates major research facilities such as the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy and collaborates internationally to accelerate the transition to clean, sustainable fusion energy. UKAEA has over 30 years of experience working with tritium as fusion fuel.

Eni is a global energy company headquartered in Italy, engaged in the exploration, production, and supply of oil, gas, and low-carbon energy solutions. Eni has over 70 years of experience delivering industrial plants at scale. The company is investing heavily in energy transition technologies, including renewables, biofuels, and innovative solutions such as fusion, to support a more sustainable energy future.

Delivering specialist engineering expertise to enable the safe, scalable and efficient development of tritium and fusion technologies.

What we do

RH3OVA provides end-to-end engineering and consultancy services supporting the development of complex tritium and fusion-related systems. From early concept definition and feasibility studies to detailed engineering, system integration and operational support, the company works alongside industrial players, research organisations and technology developers to address challenges across the entire project lifecycle.
Our services

RH3OVA assessments, studies and concept designs are underpinned by real-life DT fusion fuel cycle operating experience and leverage expertise in delivery of large engineering projects.

Examples of potential scope:

  • Fuel cycle concept design for a range of plasma scenarios (pulsed or continuous)
  • Assessment of the impact of whole-plant decisions on fuel cycle technical risk, including the selection of seeded gases, cooling media and other process utilities, plasma impurity tolerance
  • Development and implementation of strategies to mitigate technical risk, including experimental campaigns and targeted development campaigns to increase confidence in scalability and lifecycle performance
  • Estimation of fuel cycle tritium inventory, parasitic load and significant material costs
